The Huawei Mate 8 has arrived.

The company's most advanced mobile phone makes waves upon its debut with impressive features that hopefully will launch a successful phablet run. While the manufacturer has launched a number of smartphones, this latest device is arguably one of Huawei's most ambitious yet.

According to a report from GSM Arena, the Huawei Mate 8 will drop with the firm's latest Kirin 950 SoC with octa-core CPU and Mali T880MP4 GPU. This new chipset has been discussed thoroughly by the mobile phone circuit, with its four high-power Cortex-A72 cores that clocks up to 2.3 GHz plus four power-saving Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8 GHz.

Backed by this chipset, the Huawei Mate 8 features a six-inch FHD IPS display and a body crafted with aerospace-grade aluminium and 2.5D curved diamond cut glass. It's equipped with Sony's latest IMX298 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front snapper, a fingerprint sensor and an adequate 4,000 mAh battery cell.

The handset will be available with varying memory sets including 3GB/32GB of RAM and internal storage respectively, 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB. In order, these variants are priced roughly $480, $590 and $700. Huawei also covers aesthetics with different color options of Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, and Mocha Brown. The Huawei Mate 8 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

A report from CNET compared the new Huawei phablet's 1080p display with 367 ppi against its rivals, pointing out that rival smartphones boast equal or better pixel count, particularly the Samsung Galaxy Note 5's leading 518 ppi.

The Huawei Mate 8 has been well covered, showing up in different benchmark tests before its official release on Nov. 26. In a previous report by Android Headlines, the AnTuTu benchmarking website did not just reveal details about the phone but rated it with an impressive total score of 79,131 points on the website. While no breakdown was revealed, the achievement points towards a reliable device that might make a dent in the competitive smartphone market.

Huawei Mate 8 will be available in China in the first quarter of 2016, according to a report from CNET. International release will reportedly be announced at CES in January 2016.
