Mexican fighter Saul "Canelo" Alvarez can beat the undefeated Gennady Golovkin, former champion Mikey Garcia predicts.

Garcia believes that the new World Boxing Council middleweight champion can bring down "Triple G" if he faces him now, Fight Hype reported.

"If he does fight Triple G, he's the kind of fighter that will give Triple G the most difficult fight ever," Garcia said.

The Ventura, California native believes Alvarez's size, youth, good hands and style can be enough to overpower the unbeaten Kazakh. The 27-year-old fighter added that an Alvarez-Golovkin showdown will be very fascinating to watch because both fighters have great skills. The bout will be their "biggest test" in both of their respective careers, added Garcia.

"Canelo" insists hat he is not yet ready to face the International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Association, International Boxing Organization middleweight champion just yet, especially at 160 pounds, per a separate interview with Fight Hype.

"If he wants to fight with me, let him come down to 155 and I'll fight him whatever day he wants," the young boxer said.

"At this moment, my body isn't ready for 160 pounds. Maybe 1 or 2 more years I'll be ready for 160," Alvarez added.

Yet, Garcia is firm that the 25-year-old titleholder should not waste his time and meet "GGG" inside the ring as soon as possible.

"If he's not ready now, he'll never be ready," Garcia shared.

Thus, it is only wise for "Canelo" to face Golovkin, especially since he has the age advantage now.

Golovkin to triumph against "Canelo"?

On the contrary, boxing trainer Robert Garcia, who is Mikey's sibling, favors Golovkin to defeat "Canelo" if they collide soon, Fight Hype notes. The elite trainer also advises Alvarez to not face the formidable Kazakh as it will be too dangerous for him.

"'Canelo' is a superstar...I don't think he takes those chances...he should've taken more chances...I don't think he's ready yet...right now, I wouldn't advise him to do it...I think he gets beat by Triple G," Robert said.

The renowned boxing coach thinks Alvarez may be ready in two to three more fights or about a year to two years from now.

However, if "Canelo" refuses to fight Golovkin, he may lose the WBC crown he captured on Nov. 21 via a unanimous victory against the 35-year-old Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, per an SB Nation report.

"Canelo" must face Golovkin, basing on WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman's statements. Sulaiman confirmed that the champion should face Golovkin, who is the WBC mandatory challenger, Boxing Scene informed.
