As fans continue to question where Luke Skywalker is, Mark Hamill has finally spoken out about the character's missing status in the marketing campaign.

In an interview with Empire, Hamill continued to be secretive about the fate of the character but delivered some hints on where the famed Jedi Master could be.

"Obviously you're seeing him in a very different time in his life. There are lots of surprises in this movie. You're going to love it," Hamill noted.

During the interview the actor spoke about his time shooting the film and how it reminded him of shooting "A New Hope. "

"It reminded me of when I was in Tunisia on the salt flats. If you could get into your own mind and shut out the crew and look at the horizon, you really felt like you were in a galaxy far, far away. I had that same wave of emotion happen to me when I was on Skellig Michael in Ireland. I wasn't anticipating it," he said.

It is interesting to see this character go missing especially since Hamill's presence was so hyped when he was first announced as part of the cast. Additionally, Hamill has been on the marketing trail with the film, something other featured stars have yet to do.

Additionally, both Han Solo and Princess Leia have been featured predominantly in posters and trailers. Luke was the lead in the original trilogy while Han and Leia played supporting roles. It will be interesting to see where Luke has gone and how he will fit into the new trilogy with the new characters. For now fans only have to wait less than month to finally see how the journey unfolds.

"Star Wars: the Force Awakens" opens on Dec. 17 and is expected to break the box office December record. Additionally, it is predicted to score one of the highest box office grosses of all time.
