Actress America Ferrera is ready to once again take on Latina stereotypes and stigmas about women through comedy in the new television sitcom "Superstore."

The Honduran-American actress will be starring in the new NBC series, created Justin Spitzer, a writer and producer for "The Office." Ferrera will play Amy, a floor supervisor who keeps a group of diverse department store workers on their toes.

Amy has an important role at her job and has a very tough attitude, which causes her to clash with Jonah, played by "Mad Men's" Ben Feldman, a new employee who quickly becomes interested in her romantically.

However, before that plot line could fall into the typical "hard to get" sitcom romance, creators made sure to throw in a curve ball by making Amy a married woman with a daughter.

The show marks Ferrera's return to television after a five-year hiatus, which the actress revealed she took to "feel human again" after dedicating so much time to "Ugly Betty."

The star graduated from college in 2013 with a degree in International Relations and got married to actor and director Ryan Piers Williams.

The series also stars "SNL" alum Mark McKinney, "Shameless" actress Nicole Bloom, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn and Nico Santos. "Superstore" premieres Jan. 4, but NBC will be previewing the first two episodes on Nov. 30.
