It looks like Sheldon (Jim Parsons) will have some regrets about turning down Amy's (Mayim Bialik) offer to get back together in the next all-new episode of "The Big Bang Theory."

In the last episode of popular CBS comedy, Amy agreed to go out with Sheldon on a friend date at the aquarium despite all of the friction that has been going on between them since their shocking split in the Season 8 finale. Not only did the two really enjoy hanging out together, but Amy confessed to Sheldon that she wanted to give their awkward romance a second try. However, Sheldon rejected her offer to hook back up because he was too afraid of getting hurt again, reports Entertainment Weekly.

"I excel at many things. But getting over you wasn't one of them. I think I need to be your friend," he told Amy over the phone, leaving her heartbroken.

Although Sheldon said he wasn't ready to jump back into a relationship, the synopsis for the next episode reveals that he will come to realize just how much he cares for Amy.

"Sheldon, while listening to a Beach Boys song, will realize he cannot get the song or Amy out of his head and will realize how much she has done for him and how much she means to him," reads the synopsis, according to The Hollywood Hills.

Later on in the season, executive producer Steve Molaro announced that Sheldon and Amy will finally consummate their chaste relationship before the end of the year.

"After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship, and we're so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes," the showrunner told Variety.

Season 9, Episode 10, "The Earworm Reverberation," will premiere on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
