Xiaomi Mi 5's rumored release date may coincide with the alleged earlier launch of Samsung Galaxy S7. Reports revealed a feasible January 2016 release for both upcoming flagship devices.

PC Tech Mag reported that the next-gen smartphones from Samsung and Xiaomi are expected to arrive as early as January 2016, further pitting these two for a competition. When it comes to features, Samsung reportedly will try to use its own version of touch sensitive technology called Clear Touch.

The report further explained that it is same to Apple's innovative 3D Force Touch technology which is now found on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus.

PC Tech Mag also noted that Xiaomi might also try the 3D touch technology after reports revealed that the Chinese tech company has already allegedly patented a similar tech. And speculations are rife that the Xiaomi Mi 5 specs will include this technology.

Further reports shared the possibility that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be equipped with the Sense ID feature from Qualcomm, which as described on PC Tech Mag is an "ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technology."

Another fresh news revealed that the Snapdragon 820, rumored to be used by the Xiaomi Mi 5, were able to provide high single-core tally, 2300 points, to be specific. Phone Arena noted that though it is not on the level of Apple's A9 chipset, it is still a "very high score, and bodes well for the performance of phones with the new Snapdragon inside."

As for the display, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is rumored to have a 5.2-inch Quad HD screen boasting a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It is going to be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 if speculations are true.

Meanwhile, according to previous Latin Post, the Samsung Galaxy S7's display specs might feature an AMOLED 4k display. ValueWalk also shared that the Samsung Galaxy S7 might have a new camera technology.

Called Britecell, this new tech is expected to provide better light sensitivity, especially when shooting in low-light conditions. Users can also expect less distortion in the photos and reductions in color fuzziness from this new camera tech.

In addition to the standard Samsung Galaxy S7, which will bear the model number SM-G930, there will also be Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935A).
