Sony has officially unveiled two new cut-rate bundles for the PlayStation 4.

In a recent PlayStation blog post, the company's marketing executive John Koller stated that the "Star Wars Battlefront Standard Edition" and "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection" PlayStation 4 bundle will cost $300 each beginning this Sunday. Dec. 6. The discount will run until Saturday, Dec. 19.

The "Star Wars" bundle includes a jet black 500GB PlayStation 4 with matching DualShock 4 controller and a copy of "Star Wars Battlefront." Sony is also generous enough to throw in a digital voucher for four classic "Star Wars" games: "Super Star Wars," "Star Wars: Racer Revenge," "Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter" and "Star Wars Bounty Hunter."

The latest "Star Wars" video game is developed by EA DICE, the same studio behind the "Battlefield" franchise. The game contains large-scale battles on iconic locations like Endor and Hoth. Players can engage in aerial skirmishes while gaining special abilities. They could also play as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo and many more.

"The open beta for 'Star Wars Battlefront' was exceptionally well received by players," said EA finance executive Blake Jorgensen through GameInformer. "Consequently, we're raising our unit forecast for sell-in during fiscal year 2016 to approximately 13 million units."

Meanwhile, the "Uncharted" bundle has the same jet black 500GB PlayStation 4 and DualShock 4 controller, plus three prior "Uncharted" titles. It features single-player campaigns for "Drake's Fortune," "Among Thieves" and "Drake's Deception."

The package is perfect for those wanting to experience the remastered trilogy in preparation for the release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" on March 18, 2016. Additionally, buyers will have exclusive access to the "Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Beta," which will run from Dec. 4 to Dec. 13.

"With two amazing PS4 bundles available for only $299.99 each, we hope to bring some holiday cheer to PlayStation fans with these amazing bundles at a great value, and look forward to many gaming hours this holiday season and beyond," said Koller.

The recent announcement is followed by an unconfirmed report claiming that Sony has unlocked the PlayStation 4's seventh core for video game developers to work on, which means that the console has gotten a bit more powerful in terms of graphics.

The upgrade was referenced on a changelog that surfaced on the Beyond3D forum. The latest entry for the FMOD audio middleware indicated: "PS4 - Added FMOD_THREAD_CORE6 to allow access to the newly unlocked 7th core."

The PlayStation 4 is powered by an octa-core CPU. Until now, video game developers could only utilize six of them while the remaining two are responsible for running the operating system.
