Camila Fernández, daughter of famed artist Alejandro Fernández and granddaughter of the legendary Vicente Fernández, has officially launched her music career at the age of 18.

Fernández made the announcement on her birthday, noting her excitement at the opportunity of following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather.

"I'm happy, excited - music has been my life since I was a little girl and I've been practicing to make my dream come true," she said, according to Fox News Latino.

The new artist is set to record her first song in January and will eventually reveal her first album.

Fernández has inevitably gotten advice from her father, something she relishes as the "best advice" from "the best teacher."

"He knew all this was going to happen because I kept telling him it would since I was little, and of course he supports me," Camila Fernández noted.

Alejandro Fernández has been very vocal about his daughter's potential career for years. According to People en Espanol, the elder Fernández publicly stated that he wanted his daughter to study hard and do well in school before embarking on a musical career. The two have sung together in performance and are likely to do so again in light of the news.

Alejandro Fernández is slated to have a busy 2016. He will not only watch his daughter's career progress, but is currently prepping a tour with Luis Miguel for 2016 that was announced a few weeks ago. He won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Ranchero Album back in 2000.

His father Vicente Fernández is well-known as "El Rey de la Cancion Ranchera" and has two Grammy Awards to his name, in addition to eight Latin Grammy accolades.

Universal Music of Mexico is the record label that is set to sponsor Camila Fernández's career.
