Reports that Coldplay will be performing at the upcoming Super Bowl 50 at the halftime show brought about mixed reactions since the Chris Martin-led band and their music are considered soft rock. However, reports remain as rumors while other artists like Bruno Mars are also being speculated to perform

For the Win reports that Coldplay's music may just be a sign that it is indeed a tough decision for the National Football League since their annual event is considered as one of the most anticipated. Last year, NFL had Katy Perry as a performer during halftime alongside Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot, The Sun noted.

Now, The Sun speculates that if Coldplay will be the main performer, there should be more performers invited including Mars and even Beyonce. According to Bleacher Report, the two artists who also collaborated with Coldplay in its new album "A Head Full of Dreams" for the single "A Hymn For The Weekend" may also perform at the Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California.

The news outlet also said that NFL's rumored choice of band, which is Coldplay, could also mean that the band is gearing up to be one that could hit millions of fans.

"The Super Bowl offer is a no-brainer for the band. It's the biggest show in the world and they reckon it's finally their time to step up and do it," a music insider told The Sun.

"Granted you don't get paid a lot to do it, but the exposure you get in return is huge. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but they're definitely in the running," the insider added.

Since the first artist to perform is yet to be announced on Thursday, there are also rumors that Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 might also be included in the list.

Meanwhile, For The Win urges that Coldplay may be a weak pick and the stronger choice might be Kanye West as he is expected to always say something or do something that will gain a lot of audience impact.

However, despite reports claiming that Coldplay may not be the most lively band to perform at Super Bowl 50, previous reports, however, say that the British band was actually considered for last year's Super Bowl, the Wall Street Journal previously reported back in August 2014.

Coldplay is already reportedly scheduled to perform at next year's Glastonbury festival, per The Sun. The band's latest album "A Head Full of Dreams" is out this Friday, Dec. 4.
