Aracely Arámbula was recently announced as the star of "Los Miserables," a modern retelling of the Victor Hugo story "Les Miserables."

And it seems there may already be tension on set.

Telemundo wanted to record a special behind-the-scenes look of the telenovela, but Arámbula would not participate, according to TV Y Novelas.

According to a source close to the actress, Arámbula was not notified with enough time, so she didn't give Telemundo permission to include her. This has created an uncomfortable environment because Telemundo was banking on the special being very successful.

There is still not a lot known about the production.

Valentina Párraga is in charge of bringing the story to life, and Arámbula's character will be a strong woman. She has to hide until she can prove her family's innocence. Her character's name has not been released yet.

But since it is based on the Victor Hugo novel, there is some conclusions we can draw. For example, her character seems to be based off Jean Valjean. He is a peasant who is imprisoned for stealing bread for his family. After being released 19 years later, he has to constantly hide from Javert, who has become obsessed with finding him.

Perhaps the telenovela will only focus on the struggle between Jean Valjean and Javert, but we're sure the telenovela will take a lot of creative liberties. It will already great differ because it will take place in current times.

Either way, the series, which is slated to come out this year, will be in very capable hands.

Arámbula has been acting since 1994, with her first main role coming in 1998, where she played Jacqueline de la Peña in "Soñadoras." She has been acting pretty consistently since she began.
