Days after Carmelo Anthony expressed his disappointment over the New York Knicks season, he made plans to help the team this coming offseason. Anthony told reporters on Monday that he would be involved in the Knicks' recruitment team.

"Put me at the head of the meeting table. And let's go to work," the Knicks superstar forward said. He had a limited time in the recruitment process last year when Phil Jackson missed out on all the big names in free agency.

It's still four months before the 2016 free agency starts, but Anthony already made a pitch to Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo. The four-time All-Star is having a relatively good bounce back season in Sacramento after a disastrous stint in Dallas last year.

Rondo's Resurgence

Rondo signed a one-year deal with the Kings last July and could have a lot of suitors when he enters free agency again this offseason. The NBA's salary cap will rise significantly and teams will have money to offer to him.

The 30-year-old is having a great season in the California capital, averaging 11.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and a career-high and league-leading 12.0 assists per game. He looks back to his old self, the one that manned the point during the Boston Celtics' championship run in 2008.

"We knew he was a guy who could pass the ball so well and orchestrate an offense. The good thing is he's always in the gym for us. He comes back most nights to work on his shot, work on his game," Kings Associate Head Coach Chad Iske said.

He's also shooting fairly well this season with 44.9 points on the field and 35.4 percent 3-point average. However, he still has problems making his free throws and only makes 56.7 percent of them this year.

Does He Fit with the Knicks' Triangle Offense?

"I think Rondo, just me personally, I don't want to be tampering, but I've heard he said he wouldn't thrive in a system like this. I think he'd be perfect in a system like this," Anthony said.

He added that the triangle system also fits Rondo's style that doesn't shoot well in the perimeter but is good at penetration. Interim Knicks head coach Kurt Rambis seems to agree with Anthony, saying that traditional point guards like Rondo will thrive in the triangle offense.

Anthony also mentioned that he previously convinced Rondo to join the Knicks while with the Celtics. He said, "There was a time where he wanted to come. It's out of my hands at that point."
