The Golden State Warriors' summer addition of Kevin Durant throws yet another huge log on their simmering rivalry with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After the then defending champion Warriors blew a 3-1 NBA Finals lead in surrendering their crown to the Cavs' last month, management wasted little time in recruiting the league's best player not named LeBron James or Steph Curry into the fold.

It's enough to have all of NBA Nation salivating at the thought of what comes next in the growing drama involving the two teams that have competed head to head for the last two NBA crowns.

Warriors out for Revenge

Nothing the Cavs can do, or any other team in the league for that matter, can counter what the Warriors have done. Still, don't expect to find James or Cavs' running-mate Kyrie Irving somewhere shaking in their boots.

In the minds of many, James and Company have been thrust back into their familiar role of underdogs by the Warriors signing of Durant. But history tells us nothing is guaranteed and the Cavs are living proof.

It took Cleveland a full season for their Big Three of James, Irving and Kevin Love to come together as one and it doesn't figure to be any less challenging for the Warriors and their newfound Big 4 of Durant, Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

With that, the Cavs seem to have both momentum and known chemistry on their side. Their two biggest additions this offseason stand to be their surefire re-signings of James and three-point marksman J.R. Smith.

Cavs add Dunleavy Jr., Resign Jefferson

The addition of veteran forward Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the resigning of the savvy Richard Jefferson also don't figure to hurt the Cavaliers chances much.

As huge as the Durant get is for the Warriors, it came at the price of losing the depth of such veterans as Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut and Leandro Barbosa.

But there's no denying it's the stars that matter most in this rivalry. And they don't come much bigger than Durant.
