Manchester United will reportedly make a huge offer to purchase Juan Mata from rival Chelsea.

According to numerous reports, the offer will be in the 37 million pound range. Prior to recent reports, there were rumors about the team's interest in the Spaniard, but it seems that the latest developments have confirmed not only the interest, but the team's decision to act.

Despite United's interest, Goal.com reports: "Mata is under contract until 2016 and Chelsea would prefer to evaluate his situation at the end of the season and sell him abroad, with Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid among the player's admirers."

For many, this addition would be crucial for Manchester United manager David Moyes as he looks to make up for a poor transfer window last summer that saw him fail to buy the likes of Ander Herrera, Cesc Fabregas and Leighton Baines; his lone purchase, Marounane Fellaini, has been a huge disappointment.

The big question about Mata would be whether or not the Spaniard can still produce. He was the top star for the Blues in the past few seasons but fell out of favor under Mourinho. The emergence of Oscar and Eden Hazard has made Mata even more dispensable.

Another major concern is whether there is enough space in United's structure to fit in the Spaniard. Mata usually plays in the middle as an attacking midfielder. However, Wayne Rooney currently occupies the spot as a center forward behind striker Robin van Persie. Mata would likely be tried at the wing, where he has struggled for Chelsea.
