It looks like shaggy-haired salon customers did not mind all the new procedures and rules. In fact, more people are a lot more grateful to get their long hair trimmed, cut-off, or even shaved.

Aside from shaggy hair, the "Dumb and Dumber" haircut and roots without color were among the various styles hairstylists looked into early on Monday after salons and barbershops were allowed to reopen.

For P-nut's, a Fort Walton Beach barbershop, it opened again on Monday morning, and the phone of Tammie Norton the barbershop's owner was already very busy with calls and text messages from those hoping to set an appointment.

According to Norton, it was a bit overwhelming although she was thankful as well, to reopen her business. "Everybody needs a haircut today," she said, adding, they cannot fit all the customers in.

Abiding by the New Rules

While P-nut's is open, new rules have come out surrounding the style or perfect trim. Norton shared, at the shop, customers who opt to walk in need to check-in and are required to sit and wait outside until a barber becomes available.

More so, barbers are required to wear masks too, sanitize in-between clients, and avoid using blow dryers.

Meanwhile, a salon on May Ester Cut-Off, Cuts By Us, introduced new rules as well, for the reopening day. Amy Castanon, the salon manager said, they are happy to be back at work, too.

Temporarily, Cuts By Us is not offering waxing or tanning services, and their clients should set an appointment before they get a haircut or hair color.

More so, the salon has stopped the shampooing service as well, so they ask their clients to come to the shop with wet hair. If not, the stylists wet the customers' hair without shampooing it.

Like P-Nut's Cuts By Us does not use blow dryers too, along with the removal of the shampooing service. The shop does not use curlers, as well, for its hairstyling service.

Even with the new rules implemented, customers of the said salons still come to them for their available services.

Barbershop and Salon Rules in Florida

On Friday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis added barbershops and salons to the businesses that could reopen to restart the economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic

He waited until the next day though to release the executive order, as well as the guidance to barbershop and salon owners in a Q&A form.

Part of the rule requires the salons and barbershops to "operate by appointment" and allot a 15-minute allowance in-between appointments to give time for the stylists and barbers to sanitize their respective work stations.

In addition, the order also requires the barbers and stylists to always wear masks although wearing gloves is not a must.

Based on the EO, customers are not required to wear one either, but the state urges the businesses to offer their customers masks. The state has also allowed the businesses to require their customers to wear masks if they opt to.

Also under the regulations, waiting rooms are not allowed to have magazines, but there are no restrictions when it comes to their operating hours and the number of clients they can serve so long as they are practicing the social distancing rule.
