President Donald Trump's health has been improving since he started his hospital stay and is responding to treatment, his doctors said Sunday.

Trump's doctors believe the president can end his hospital stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and return to the White House as early as Monday, CNET reported.

They added that if Trump continues to look and feel as well as he does right now, they can discharge him from his hospital stay and treat him from the White House instead. This hopeful message was delivered by Dr. Brian Baribaldi who is consulting the president's treatment.

Later Sunday, he also left the medical center for a while to drive by supporters who were gathered outside the hospital, reported The Hill.

Trump's Hospital Stay

White House physician Dr. Sean Conley said the president was flown to Walter Read out of "an abundance of caution."

He arrived there on Friday after Conley grew concerned about the "rapid progression" of his symptoms from Thursday night to Friday morning. Trump had a high fever and low oxygen levels at the time.

Conley added that Trump had to be given supplemental oxygen before he was brought to the medical center.

The state of Trump's health remained uncertain until Saturday, when Conley and Trump himself said he was "doing very well" and felt "much better." In a press conference, Conley's team said the president's symptoms were resolving and improving.

They added that Trump didn't have trouble breathing or walking around his hospital suite. The team had not yet clarified if Trump had received any more supplemental oxygen since testing positive.

But White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said the vital signs were "very concerning." To this, Trump was furious at Meadows for contradicting his doctor.

A Complete Health Report?

Conley said he wasn't being deceptive when he did not disclose the president's need for supplemental oxygen sooner.

He said he was "trying to reflect the upbeat attitude" of both Trump and the team. "It came off that we were trying to hide something, which wasn't necessarily true," he added.

The physician still sparked some fresh questions about the president's health. Some believe the doctor may not be giving the full picture of the president's condition, noted Financial Times.

But on Sunday afternoon, Trump posted a video on Twitter showing he was up and about in the hospital.

Conley assured the people that a multidisciplinary team is looking after Trump. All of them are engaged in "state of the art monitoring" of the president.

The team is also looking for any evidence of complications from the virus or from therapies being used to treat Trump.

Trump received his first dose of experimental drug Remdesivir on Friday evening and the team said its plan is to continue with a five-day course of it.

They added that the seventh to tenth day of COVID-19 infections, the inflammatory phase, can be a concern for them, but they will proceed carefully.

As of Saturday morning, Trump had been free from fever for over 24 hours. The first lady, Melania Trump, is also doing well and recovering at home, the doctors said.
