Meghan Markle wrote an emotional piece for the New York Times revealing that she suffered a miscarriage in July this year.

On Wednesday, Markle penned an op-ed for The New York Times and said she lost the supposed to be her second child with husband, Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex recalls when she felt a sharp cramp while changing her son's diaper before falling to the ground. 

Despite the incident, Meghan hopes that her story would raise awareness about miscarriage and the lasting pain that comes with it.

"Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few," Markle wrote.

At the same time, Markle encouraged people in committing approaching others and asking if they are ok, especially this Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S.

On May 19, 2018, Meghan and Prince Harry got married in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in the U.K. the couple had their first child, Archie Harrison, on May 6, 2019.

In January this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to North America after they announced that they are stepping back from their roles as members of the royal family.

According to IB Times, Markle got candid regarding miscarriage four months ago, but critics still slammed her for sharing her story. Markle shared her heartbreaking experience, and many sympathized with the royal couple. 

However, social media people questioned why Markle shared it publicly and accused her of making money from her story. 

One commented on Twitter: "I'm sorry for their loss but why do they need to tell the world EVERYTHING about their lives. I know - BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE MONEY ANY OTHER WAY THAN BEING IN THE SPOTLIGHT! ME ME ME ME!!!"

Another user agreed with those who questioned Markle's intention saying that Markle looks for any way to exploit attention, money, and public sympathy.

On the other hand, Meghan's fans supported her decision to share her grief. They praised the former star for doing it as they believe her story could strengthen those going through the same loss.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail reported that Chrissy Teigen defended Markle from receiving unexpected criticism after revealing her miscarriage. Teigen, 34, who suffered a recent pregnancy loss, passionately came to Markle's defense after a Twitter user claims that the Duchess of Sussex selfishly penned the essay. 

Besides, the Today Extra host Sylvia Jeffreys praised Markle for her article. On Wednesday, Jeffreys shared a link to the essay on her Instagram Stories, describing it as a 'raw and powerful' sharing of losing a child during pregnancy.

Last month Sylvia broke down in tears live and revealed that she had conceived her son, Oscar, because of her struggles with fertility, as per Daily Mail.

Why Meghan Markle decided to share her miscarriage story

According to E! News, Meghan wants to detail her miscarriage experience to begin the healing process across different kinds of loss from the entire year. Markle and Prince Harry mutually decided to share the news, and her husband was supportive. The couple also notified their families of the miscarriage, and they are both doing well, as per E! News.
