As the world grows at the rapid rate it's developing and globalization continues its due course, so too does the harm we do to our environment. Climate change has come out as the new threat to humanity, and global warming is more real and more problematic than it ever was. Different people and companies have taken initiatives to tackle this.

Petroteq, which produces and sells oil, has now come into the arena and proposed the gold standard of initiatives to tackle global warming. Global warming is mainly caused by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other gases. These gases are emitted into the earth's atmosphere, where they cause temperature increases.

What Are The Solutions?

A large body believes that renewable resources are the answer. This may seem like a fine idea on paper, however for the world as we know it and for it to operate, renewable resources quickly pale in comparison. In 2020, renewable resources only accounted for about 20% of power generation in the US, with another 20% going to nuclear power and the largest, 60%, still relied on fossil fuels. The numbers get worse when examining the transportation sector. Renewable resources only accounted for a mere 5% of the total US transport sector energy consumption.

These numbers can not stand to function in the modern economy or the practical standards of the world. The next solution is to look at going carbon negative. Carbon neutral is when you emit the same amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as you remove. In contrast, carbon negative is when you remove more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than you emit. Petroteq believes in going carbon negative.

Petroteq's Initiatives

Examining the previous facts and looking at the numbers, it would be a rather poor conclusion that renewable resources can aid this situation. In fact, as the numbers show, the world will still need to rely on fossil fuels for the next 100 years - hence they're not going away anytime soon.

This is where Petroteq's solutions come in. Petroteq started to work towards carbon negative methods by decarbonization. Decarbonization either moves away from energy systems that are large producers of carbon dioxide or removes a buildup of carbon deposits from the internal combustion edges. These are both different ways of removing carbon.

Petroteq plans to decarbonize by reducing up to 40% of its carbon emissions by mixing its oil with bi-glycerin. This new fuel will then help heavy cargo transportation such as on land, water, and air. Secondly, Petroteq is investigating drilling wells into shallow oil sands. These wells will be about 600 to 1,500 ft deep. Carbon dioxide will be injected into the wells at high temperatures, and this process will separate up to 700 KG/BBL or 450 KG/MW.

These early initiatives by Petroteq have set an incredible standard for what an oil company can do. Petroteq has set the bar very high, encouraging others to join, counter this universal issue, and make our planet greener.
