Even though Damon has been locked in a mysterious place since the Season 5 finale of "The Vampire Diaries," it won't be long until TV viewers will see him back with his brother Stefan.

As "TVD" fans will recall, Damon and Bonnie sacrificed their lives and died as The Other Side was being destroyed during last season's epic Season 5 finale. However, executive producer Caroline Dries teased that the Salvatore brothers will reunite in Season 6 through several flashback scenes.

"There are flashbacks coming up," the EP told E! News. "But we will see an era we haven't seen before in flashbacks and it will help tie together a bunch of storylines." Viewers can expect to see Damon and Stefan flashbacks in the fourth episode, she said.

Dries also revealed that Enzo will not be featured in next season's premiere; instead he will return in Episode 2 with a big plan in regard to his BFF Damon, whose death "took a toll on" him, Dries previewed.

In addition, fans can look forward to more flirty encounters between Enzo and Caroline. "We'll continue to have that dynamic between the two," Dries said, adding that he and Matt Donovan will bump heads. "They will not be the best of friends," said Dries.

In the build up to "TVD's" new season, showrunner Julie Plec also dropped a few spoilers, telling Entertainment Weekly that a new villain will be very different from other adversaries on the show.

"There is a villain-esque person in this season that I'm particularly excited about because it does break the mold a little bit of our villains, which seem to be often very redeemable in their own way," she says. "And we get to explore the deep, dark minds of a psychopathic personality, so I'm very excited about that." In other words, this is one bad guy who won't find redemption through a spin-off.

Season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" will return to The CW on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. EST.
