A Long Beach park will be named after Jenni Rivera.

The late singer's park is on Walnut Avenue and 20th Street, and on Tuesday the park was approved by the City Council, notes the Orange County Register.

Councilman Dee Andrews said that Rivera should also be recognized as a model citizen of Long Beach. He explained that she was an inspiration and did many of good things for the community. For example, she sent clothes and other items to women who were domestic violence victims.

"I don't think people really knew how much she gave back to the community," Andrews said of the singer who was born in Long Beach in 1969.

Jenni's sister, Rosie Rivera, said that the singer never forgot her roots, despite all of the success she had in her career.

Rivera, who was killed in a plane crash in December 2012, is constantly a source of inspiration for her daughter, Chiquis Rivera.

Chiquis posts about her mother constantly. On Tuesday, Chiquis shared a video of her mother on their mun2 reality show.

"She's an assassin when she has to be," Jenni said. "She's so much like her mom. Chiquis and I are an unbeatable team. We always have been."

Chiquis has even followed in her mother's footsteps and started a singing career.

But Chiquis has also been very honest about not always being the best daughter.

In late September, she posted a picture of her mother on Instagram, where she explained that she didn't always appreciate her.

"But I thank God for giving me a mother like her, though for many years, I didn't appreciate her as I should have," she said. "Now and for always I see what a blessing it was, and I'll do whatever possible to take her name and memory to the highest height possible."
