Luis Coronel may only be 18, but the singer is making his mark on Latin music.

The crooner is nominated for Mexican Regional: Male Artist of the Year at the upcoming Premios Lo Nuestro. He will face off against El Komander, Gerardo Ortiz, Julion Alvarez and Noel Torres on the award show taking place on Feb. 19.

"For me it's shocking to know that I am nominated alongside Gerardo Ortiz and other artists for Premios Lo Nuestro," he said in an interview with "El Gordo y La Flaca." "I never imagined I'd be here at 18. I remember always seeing the show on TV with my mom, seeing all the artists."

Coronel said Ricky Martin and Ortiz are among his favorite performers, adding that Ortiz has always been his idol.

Coronel was asked if he wanted to follow in Ortiz's footsteps; the singer landed his first Hollywood film with "Spare Parts."

"Well if the opportunity comes up, you have to do it," Coronel responded.

Coronel also revealed he is a big fan of Becky G. He watched her video, and he likes that she is tackling the pop genre.

The singer was then asked if he is romantically interested in Becky G since both teen singers are single.

Coronel admit he thinks the "Shower" singer was pretty.

As always, Coronel was gracious when it came to his fans.

"Because of them, everything is possible," he said about his followers. "If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be making music. But thank God, there are my fans."

In 2014, Coronel appeared on "Sabado Gigante" to talk about the promise he made to his father. Although he is the youngest in his family, he told his father that he would always take care of everyone. When Coronel's father died about three years ago, the family was struggling. Nowadays, the singer is able to keep his promise to his dad.
