Jenelle Evans and her mother, Barbara Evans, were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday as the mother of two seeks to regain custody of her oldest son, Jace, whom is currently in the care of her mother.

Us Weekly reports that Evans postponed the case to attend couple's counseling with fiancé Nathan Griffith.

"The April date is just another calendar hearing and that will likely be pushed forward too," a source told RadarOnline.com.

Evans' legal strategy is to first secure visitation rights, and then regain full custody of Jace.

"Jenelle plans to show that she and Nathan have a stable home life and that it would be good for Jace when he lives with them," the source says. "She needs to show the court that she and Nathan have a solid relationship and that their home would be a safe and comforting place for Jace to live."

The newly engaged couple may have little hope of impressing the court with their "safe and comforting" environment since on Wednesday, Griffith, 27, was arrested on charges of domestic violence, according to Us Weekly.

"At about 4:15 p.m. today, Horry County Police Officers responded to a residence on Eagle Creek Drive, in the Myrtle Beach section of Horry County, for a domestic disturbance. This is the location where a television show called "Teen Mom 2" is being filmed," the Horry County Police Department told E! News.

According to TMZ, the alleged fight between Evans and Griffith was over their engagement ring. Griffith wanted it back. Evans told police he held her against a toilet and ripped it off her finger, leaving a cut.

Griffith has been charged with one count of Criminal Domestic Violence, according to police.

It's unknown if the altercation was filmed for the show.

Griffith's arrest follows Evans' Feb. 24 arrest for driving without a license. The reality TV star was fined $237.50, which she paid. She was released from jail the same day.
