Drake's Nothing Was the Same was one of the hottest rap albums to hit the scene in 2013. In a recent interview, Drake spoke out his creative process, working with Beyoncé and his journey to legendary

" It's just forever hanging in the balance of knowing in the far-off distance there's this vision of being as legendary as Hov, Pac, Bob Marley -- who knows what the possibilities are?" Drake told VIBE.

Drake is moving closer to that legendary category, and a new collaboration with Beyoncé ."Mine," which he finished this week, can only bring the 27-year-old rapper closer to that goal.

"I had fun with it. I always wanted to write for her," Drake said. "She never really sings that minimal... We'll see where that goes."

Nothing Was the Same has been praised for its elaborate and developing beats. Drake praises his producer, 40, for the unique sounds.

"I gotta give the credit to 40," the Toronto rapper explained. "He wouldn't just let a beat sit. I would leave the studio and by the time I came back the next day, he'd be like 'I added some shit.' Even this Beyoncé record that we did ("Mine"). It's kinda like ever-evolving ...it was all credit due to him for that. He was the mastermind behind the music."

This week, Drake dropped the long anticipated "Trophies," which didn't make the cut for the album release. The song features the many voices of Drake.

"'Trophies' is another record where I started youing with the rap, the cadences," Drake said. "It was a very conscious decision to start toying with the voices and making it like the melody, but not too much melody.

So what is next for one of the most popular rappers fo 2013?

"Last night was the first night I recorded. I finished up this record with Beyoncé. That was really dope," Drake said. "What's next? ... Maybe it's a concept album. Maybe it's a mixtape. I don't always know exactly where I'm going."

If Drake does decide on a concept album, he'll be taking pointers from Kendrick Lamar's good kid m.A.A.d. city, which he called "the last great concept album."
