With Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez' recent victory, is he ready to face Gennady Golovkin after a rumored Canelo-Cotto fight this September?

The young Mexican fighter knocked out James Kirkland last May 9, as witnessed by more than 30,000 boxing fans at the arena, reported ESPN.

That time, the 24-year-old fighter was overjoyed and declared confidently that he can face WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. "I will continue to fight the best fighters. That's what I do. I fight for myself and for the fans. I'm not afraid of any fighter. [Cotto] is the champion and the kind of fighter I want to fight," Canelo told ESPN.

The former WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion's style also caught the attention of another boxer, Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, who won against Willie Monroe Jr. last May 16. WBC intern middle weight GGG said he is ready to face Alvarez and Cotto, too, as seen in a video posted by HBOboxing via Twitter.

The GGG challenge was readily met with equal eagerness from the camp of the Mexican boxer. The positive reaction from Canelo was confirmed by Golden Boy Promotions and Team Canelo adviser Don Chargin as he talked on FightSaga Radio. "If you said you're going to make the fight [Canelo vs Golovkin] in three weeks, he'd [Canelo] be happy."

Chargin said that their fighter has an attitude of accepting challenges from good fighters, as he knows he will learn from them. "We didn't want him to fight Floyd (in September 2013). We thought he was a year away. And he's the one who wanted [to face] Lara and Austin Trout, " Chargin admitted.

"He fought them. His claim is that he learns when he fights smart guys like that with tough styles," he shared.

Even WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman considers the coming matches involving Canelo, GGG, and Cotto exciting. "I think there are many great fights that can happen between 147 and 160 pounds. So many great fighters. If you just take Canelo, Cotto and Triple G that is a triple great combination. I think we are going to see great fights in the coming year," said Sulaiman on Boxing Scene.

However, Sulaiman stressed that the winner of the Canelo and Cotto fight -- with a prerequisite of Cotto winning his fight this June 6 -- will face GGG.

"Triple G won, Canelo won already. Cotto needs to win on June 6th. There are advanced talks for Canelo-Cotto and that is correct the winner of that fight must fight Triple G," Sulaiman added.
