Netflix's original series Orange Is the New Black is set to return on June 6, and according to its stars, viewers will get a better look at the prison's favorite inmates this season.

The premiere date for season 2 of Orange Is the New Black was announced at the end of the season 2 finale of House of Cards, another Netflix hit. Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee Jefferson in the show, says the return of the show represents women's growth in the industry.

"It feels like Orange Is the New Black is the start of a movement," Brooks told E! News. "To be on a show with so many women and not just on the screen, but also the crew and the writers and the producers, the team mostly is women."

In October, Jenji Kohan, the show's creator, said that the show's second season would focus more on the show's supporting cast instead of just the main character, Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling).

"When do you see a show with more than one person of color on it?" Brooks continued. "You have six, seven women who are black and Hispanic who are leads. It's so cool. And Laverne Cox [who plays transgender Sophia Burst], how amazing is she?"

Both Taystee and her best friend Poussey Washington, played by Samira Wiley, will get more camera time this season.

"We will see Poussey's back story so I hope people are excited about that," Wiley said. "I'm excited about that. We will see a lot more of her in prison ... She's such a good friend and really good at that, but we'll see really more of her, her morals, where her loyalty lies, who she is as a woman, all that kind of stuff."

"I'm going to tease you a little bit about Taystee [in] season 2: you'll get more of me," Brooks said laughing. "The only thing I can give you is that for me Taystee has shocked me for season 2 so I think people will be excited to see what she does in season 2."

Despite earlier rumors, season 2 will also feature Laura Prepon, who plays one of Piper's love interests, Alex Vause.
