The simple description for the upcoming episode of “Ray Donovan” is that Ray (Liev Schreiber) will come up with a plan to help out his father Mickey (Jon Voight), who is danger of doing some hard time.

A teaser for Episode 10 of Season 3, "One Night in Yerevan," reveals a great deal more than that might be taking place.

An old enemy has resurfaced, and some intense revenge scenarios are coming Ray’s way.

Former FBI chief Ed Cochran (Hank Azaria) is back on the scene. Last season he was publicly disgraced by a sex video Ray was responsible for leaking.

The episode teaser shows Cochran, who is now reduced to being the new guy at a security firm, asking Andrew Finney (Ian McShane) some nosey questions about Ray

In a recent interview in the Hollywood Reporter, Azaria, better known for his voice work on “The Simpsons,” spoke about how he had “pestered” producers to bring his character back.

“He walks the line between being ... not sympathetic but relatable in many ways and completely in his own sociopathic stratosphere on the other hand,” Azaria said. “I guess sociopaths relate to him a lot.”

As the actor described Cochran, he spoke of the kind of freedom he gets in playing this antisocial fellow.

“I try to be surprising with him and try different things. He's so out of social convention. He doesn't care how he's coming off. He really only cares about people, he doesn't care about people too much,” Azaria said.

Addressing how Cochran will get even with Ray, Azaria said, “The one thing Cochran is really good at -- maybe the only thing he's good at -- is figuring out how to press buttons and put people in really bad situations.”

“Ray Donovan” airs on Sunday on Showtime.
