The first installment of The Lego Movie, which came out in early 2014, is a computer animated comedy adventure based on a children's toy. The humorous and adventurous movie was filled with weird characters and was a smashing hit at the box offices as the feel-good appeal for kids was unrivaled. Due to its strong success, the sequel to this adventure computer animated comedy film has been given a release date: The Lego Movie 2 is going to be released on May 26, 2017. The date was confirmed following an announcement by Warner Bros.

Although the target audience for this film was clearly aimed at a younger audience, the Lego movie was funny and interesting enough to catch the attention of all ages, maintaining its strong box office showing. The first movie took place in a world of Lego buildings where people are ruled by a villainous LEGO figure whose name is Lord Business. In this world, following instructions is the key to success.

Emmet Brickowski is an ordinary LEGO builder who is supposed to follow the instructions of Lord Business, but he is mistaken for the extraordinary Master Builder, prompting him to suddenly be taken on an adventure by the Wizard Vitruvius who considers him the "Special." He is sent on a mission to defeat the evil tyrant who is plotting to destroy the Lego universe by gluing it together.

At first, Emmet is disappointed and does not consider himself appropriate for the challenging task, but in the end Emmet wins and convinces Lord Business that he is as special as everyone else in the world. Inspired by his speech, Lord business unfreezes his victims. Emmet then celebrates with his friends and Wyldstyle becomes his girlfriend.

The Lego Movie films are directed and co-written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The distributors are Warner Bros. Pictures and the principal voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson, and Morgan Freeman.
