Gigi Hadid took to Instagram to fire back at online bullies and body-shamers who have criticized her figure.

The 20-year-old model, who is the daughter of Yolanda Foster of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" fame, felt the need to defend herself from those who have critiqued her body shape and signature walk in fashion shows.

"No, I don't have the same body type as the other models in shows," Hadid wrote in her post. "No, I don't think I'm the best at any given show. Yes, I want to have a unique walk but I also know I have to improve. No I'm not the first or the last model of my type in this industry. You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I'm a hard worker that's confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for change."

This isn't the first time Hadid has spoken about her body image in the media. After making her runway debut at the Desigual Fall 2014 fashion show in New York, the model quickly rose in prominence. However, with her newfound fame came criticisms from those that felt she didn't fit the stereotypical mold of a runway model.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Hadid said she had huge thighs and an athletic body as a child. She began to lose weight after taking on modeling, but refused to reach a point where she was "two pounds soaking wet."

"Yes, I have boobs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I'm not asking for special treatment," Hadid said in her post. "Your mean comments don't make me want to change my body they don't make me want to say no to designers that ask me to be in their shows and they definitely don't change the designers opinions of me."

Hadid encouraged body positivity, saying she wouldn't have a career without her figure. Her message has received overwhelming support, garnering over 9,000 comments from her 6.5 million followers and beyond.
