On Monday, astronomer John M. Kovac and his team announced they had detected ripples, or gravitational waves, in the fabric of space-time, an accomplishment that further supports the idea of a universe being stretched apart when it was only about a trillionth of a trillionth of a trillionth of a second old - 10 to the minus 35 seconds.
