As preparation for the upcoming "Fifty Shades Darker" develops, casting rumors have begun to spread, including one about actress Charlize Theron.

One of the lead roles that still has to be cast is that of Mrs. Robinson, also known as Elena Lincoln. The character plays a vital role in the book, as she seduced Christian Grey when he was 15 years old, and the two own a Salon business together. She eventually begins to antagonize Anastasia, and when she finds out about the relationship between Christian and Anastasia, she ultimately tries to break them up.

The role is extremely juicy and one that many actresses would want to play, especially given the high profile of the film. Among the actresses that have made the rumor list are Kim Cattrall, Michelle Pfeiffer and Theron, as noted by IMDb.

All three actresses are unique, and their careers have taken different paths. Cattrall is mostly recognized for her work on TV in the shows "Sex in the City" and "Sensitive Skin." She is a Golden Globe winner and beloved throughout the industry.

Pfeiffer, on the other hand, is recognized for her work in film and has been nominated for three Academy Awards. She has starred in "Scarface," "Dark Shadows," "What Lies Beneath," "Stardust" and "Hairspray." Her most famous role was in "Dangerous Liaisons," for which she was nominated for an Oscar.

Theron is one of the most recognized actresses at the moment and is also a box office draw. Her most recent role in "Mad Max: Fury Road" is garnering her awards buzz, and she won an Oscar in 2002 for "Monster." Other films that have showed her talent include "Young Adult," "Dark Places" and "In the Valley of Elah."

Perhaps these three stars may not be chosen for the upcoming role, but they would be great additions to the cast, which currently includes Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is expected to open in February 2017.
