Famed comedy actress Queen Latifah is jumping from one successful project to another as she is recently confirmed to be a part of another Lee Daniels series in Fox casually titled "Star." The series is about a girl group hoping to rise to fame.

E! News reports that Queen Latifah has signed up for the role of Carlotta, an owner of an Atlanta beauty salon who, of course, can hit the notes well. She will be joined by three other girls who will be her surrogate daughters.

According to USA Today, Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O'Grady will be the three girls mothered by Queen Latifah. The news comes after Queen Latifah earned great reviews from her performance in Daniels' "The Wiz," which is a live musical.

The upcoming Fox show, "Star," has the same vibe that E! News speculates to be a possible "Empire" spinoff. "The possibility of a crossover at some point exists but it's definitely not what we're planning right now," Fox chairman and CEO Dana Walden said at the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour quoted by the publication.

However, Walden later revealed that "Star" will be "a wholly contained original series," she said as quoted by the publication. "It's a modern day music business in Atlanta and Empire is modern day music business in New York," she continued. "It's not inconceivable that the two worlds could cross. But that's definitely not Lee's intention as we go into it."

Meanwhile, although "Star" is still currently in the works and no release date has been announced, USA Today reports that the show will be a pilot, which may soon be turned into a series.

The publication reports that Fox's description about the character of Demorest as Star reads as "the tough 18-year-old who spent her childhood in and out of foster homes after the death of her mother, and who will do anything to become the star she was named to be."

Meanwhile, Destiny as Alexandra is "the wealthy 20-year-old who grew up on New York'sUpper East Side, but who, for years, has tried to put her privileged world behind her, so she can make real, authentic music."

Furthermore, O'Grady as Simone is "Star's younger sister who dreams of the day Star will return to rescue her from the abusive foster home in which she was placed five years before," the publication quoted FOX.

Queen Latifah is still silent regarding the current news circulating.
