There has been a new trailer released for the exciting new "X-Men: Apocalypse" film and there are a whole host of reasons why fans will be flocking to see this one.

According to TV Guide, there are several moments in the trailer that really resonate well as a sci-fi thriller with epic sequences of fantasy-style action and one larger-than-life nemesis that fans of the comic book series are just going to love.

For starters, "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner has taken over as a young Jean Grey and the film is set in the 1980s with the onslaught of an impending worldly event that threatens to end civilization as they know it.

In the "X-Men" universe, time is not relative in terms of what could or couldn't happen. Fans already know that time travel is possible for the mutants and they can alter the timeline if they so choose. But they do so sparingly and that was evident in the previous film, "X-Men: Days of the Future Past."

So now, the new cast of characters that have taken over as the younger versions of the classic characters have come forward to fight against all odds to save the human race and ultimately, the world, from extinction.

James McAvoy returns as Professor X in his younger version and attempts to lead a team of the young mutants against the new threat, which is the character of Apocalypse, who has awakened to find the world not as he envisioned when he left it. He is an ancient mutant and seems to have larger than life powers that could destroy the X-Men.

Jennifer Lawrence also returns as Mystique, but still on the side of Professor X and less inhibited by the control Magneto once had over her. Speaking of Magneto, he has already joined forces with Apocalypse and the battle will continue against opposing forces.

Fans can watch the exciting trailer below and catch the film when it premieres on May 27, 2016.
