"Fifty Shades of Grey" may be going to the Oscars.

Ellie Goulding's song "Love Me Like You Do" has qualified for the Academy Awards and will have to compete with 74 other songs. Goulding's song has been popular throughout the year, especially since it was once one of the top 10 songs of the year and is currently nominated for the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance.

Additionally, "Love Me Like you Do" has a strong chance of being nominated as it was already nominated for the Golden Globe and Critics' Choice awards. Many times when songs are nominated for both awards, it has a better chance of getting Oscar nominated. If the song wins at both these ceremonies then it will likely repeat at the Oscars.

However, the Academy does not always nominate big celebrities. The Globes prefer to nominate star-studded songs as it is a reason to get the celebrities at the ceremony.

Goulding is one of the most popular singers today and broke out with her song "Lights." She is a British awards nominee as well as a Billboard and BBC Sound of... nominee. She has also been nominated for several MTV awards.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" was released in February and broke a number of records. The film went on to make $166 million domestically and $570 million worldwide. Currently author E.L. James is working with her husband Niall Leonard on the new scripts for "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed." Both films are set to star Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan and will be directed by James Foley. Casting is under way as production is set to commence in the early part of 2016.

The next two installments are set to be released in February of 2016 and 2017.
