This 2015 appears to be the year of Latinas. As a matter of fact, a Latina celebrity has been recently named as the number one most influential personality on social media this year. And Hispanic stars including Selena Gomez, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez and Demi Lovato are among the most followed celebrities on the online realm.

In 2015's top 20 Twitter users, Latinas are the most prominent demographic. According to Latina, Hispanic celebrities make up about 41 percent of the world's most followed women on social media. And among the world's most popular social media influencers, Latinas made the biggest gains. In fact, on top of the list is the 23-year-old singer-actress Selena Gomez.

Regardless of gender, Latinas has become the majority of social media platforms' most popular non-white users. Based on the analysis made by Vocativ, the "Good for You" hitmaker is now the second most followed celebrity on Instagram globally, with 56 million followers. In 2014, she was on the 12th place.

Shakira, on the other hand, took the second place as the most followed Latina on Facebook, with 104 million followers. The latest statistics proved that Hispanic audiences are increasing on social media, where they become as one of Internet's most powerful communities.

Aside from Gomez and Shakira, Lopez also made it to the top 20 list, with her 33 million Instagra, followers, she is on the 15th place on the list. While singer Ariana Grande is on the top 5 with 52 million Instagram followers, 28 million on Facebook and 35 million on Twitter. Whereas Lovato has 25 million followers, making her on the 20th place.

Celebrities, however, are not the only Latinas who are making waves with rising social impact. Venezuelan activist Lilian Tintori is also gradually increasing her Twitter audience.

As for the most Googled celebrities in 26 nations, Argentinian-born professional football player Lionel Messi and "Keeping Up with the Kardashian" star Kim Kardashian are on top of the list. Time noted Kardashian took the lead in France and the United States while Messi was the most Googled in Argentina, Haiti and Cuba. And although not on the list, Romeo Santos was also one of the most searched in Chile, Dominican Republic and Honduras.

While fellow footballer Cristiano Ronaldo took the third place as the most Googled personality in 21 nations. While singers Rihanna and Nicki Minaj followed with 13 and 11 countries respectively.

Meanwhile, Latina has also listed the top 20 celebrities who used their voices for Latinos this 2015. And some of them are: Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony, Mexico-born actress Salma Hayek, Dominican-Puerto Rican actress Zoe Zaldana, Honduran actress America Ferrera, Puerto Rican actress Gina Rodriguez, Venezuelan-Colombian actor Wilmer Valderrama, Mexican-American artist Becky G and Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin.
