Streaming video giant Netflix has expanded to more than 130 countries now and has rebranded itself with a unique concept in mind -- a "Global TV Network."

Following the launch of the streaming service in India, the subscription based platform has officially expanded its reach to a far reaching audience. Although the service launched in many countries simultaneously this week, India is by far the largest in terms of population, according to Quartz.

India has 1.3 billion people, but only about 400 million have access to the Internet. But if you compare that to America, it still outnumbers the country of just over 300 million.

According to Reuters, the streaming platform made the expansion on Wednesday and has nearly blanketed the entire globe, the only real exception being China at the moment.

The company has been on the rise now for years and in the streaming market, its content has uniquely been the top choice for consumers in the U.S. and in most international territories.

Of the major countries that it expanded to this week, India, Nigeria, Russia and Saudi Arabia were at the top of that list. Making their way into major markets like those have expanded the reach of the company and given them a new goal for their path moving forward.

Traditionally, television networks have had to rely on affiliates to reach their viewers. That was true in the domestic market as well as in all international territories.

The only affiliate that Netflix has to champion is an Internet connection. If you have the Internet, then you can subscribe to the network, it's that simple. They do not have to negotiate with local news and TV content companies to piggyback off their market share to reach new viewers.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings made a few statements at a press conference that clearly described the company's ambitions moving forward.

"We're moving as quickly as we can to have global availability of all the content on Netflix," Hastings said at the conference.

That content that he spoke of is the immensely popular shows that have already been on Netflix and have been featured as Netflix originals. Some of those include "House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black," "Daredevil," "Narcos" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."

Their only real challenge now is to break into China, which will not be an easy task. They said they have to starting building relationships within the country to get a viable infrastructure in place for their expansion.
