Hillary Clinton does not lack supporters when it comes to her U.S. presidential candidacy. Aside from fellow politicians, the wife of former U.S. President Bill Clinton also has the support of some of the big names in Hollywood including actress and screenwriter Lena Dunham.

Dunham stopped by Des Moines, Iowa on Jan. 9, Saturday, despite the freezing weather, to express her support for Clinton. The actress gave a speech to try and convince the residents to cast their votes for Clinton in the upcoming U.S. presidential elections. The comedienne stood before eager listeners inside Iowa's Java House to share her opinions about why the former U.S. Secretary of State should be the next president of the country.

Dunham admitted she's not voting Clinton because she's a woman. Instead, the comedienne said she favors the politician because of her stand on gun control, women's rights and abortion.

"I find her conviction very moving and her tenacity astounding," the actress told an audience of mostly young women, according to the New York Times.

Dunham also said that she is moved by Clinton's stand on feminism and sexist attacks, having personally experienced the backlash herself.

"As a newly grown-up woman who has experienced my fair share of backlash, public shaming and of puritanical judgements, that really moves me," she told the packed coffee shop of mostly "Girls" fans, according to the New York Times.

The actress made her support for Clinton clear with her wardrobe of choice during her visit in Des Moines. Dunham wore a turtle-neck dress printed with the word "Hillary" in bold red letters all across to prove she's voting for the politician in the coming U.S. presidential elections.

The 29-year-old actress was later spotted arriving at the Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday. Dunham continued her support for Clinton as she was photographed bringing a tote bag printed with the politician's face along with the label "Not That Kind of Candidate." Mail Online shared a photo of Dunham with the bag on her shoulders.

She has also been campaigning for Clinton through social media. She's taken to her Instagram to post photos of herself dressed in Hillary Clinton-inspired clothes. One photo shows Dunham wearing a pair of sequined pants and jacket with the "Vote 4 Hillary" phrase emblazoned on the back. She also shared a couple of shots from her visit to Des Moines, Iowa when she campaigned for Clinton.

Dunham's call for support from the Iowans comes less than three weeks ahead of the start of the U.S. presidential elections.
