A New York City man has been arrested and is facing multiple felonies for allegedly choking his girlfriend, forcing her to walk around in public naked and then posting a video of the abuse on social media.

Police say 24-year-old Jason Melo of Harlem, New York, punched and choked the mother of his three-month-old daughter after suspecting her of cheating on him, reports The New York Daily News. He then ordered his 22-year-old girlfriend to walk through the streets wearing only a towel as he videotaped the humiliating and cruel act.

In the video of the incident, the woman is seen walking in a white towel as a man with a camera follows her, calling her a "b---h" and "a tart" in Spanish. The man also says he caught her talking to "seven other men."

He then pulls the towel off of the woman, leaving her completely exposed, and mocks her as she stands by garbage cans outside of an apartment building.

"You're going to pay the price like a whore, right there by the trash. Pose with your trash," he tells her.

The woman, wearing only boots, then tries to hide herself between two cars.

Melowas arrested Wednesday after the victim filed a police report. He is now waiting to be arraigned in Manhattan on assault charges, reports PIX11. The woman, who was treated for facial injuries, says he threatened to kill her if she didn't go out in the towel.

Although the disturbing video was taken down, other videos on Melo's Instagram page show him defending the shocking deed. In one post, he is seen with his friends singing a song about a man who was betrayed by a woman. Another video shows him satirizing the public punishment.

However, a third video shows him asking for forgiveness.

"Jason Melo here. I want to ask all women for forgiveness. I want them to know, that really, I didn't want this to - I didn't think this would - get to this point," he says.

"Maybe, I made a mistake, to do what I did, from the beginning to take her out naked. I really regret this. If I could turn back time, I wouldn't do it. Because in my mind, so much has happened to me.

"I came from a woman, I have a daughter, and I have two sisters. But look what you pushed me to do. I am sorry for everything. This the last video I will make, I don't want any interviews, I don't want anything," he says.

Following the incident, NYC Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez released a statement denouncing the Melo's horrific act.

"Today's arrest sends a clear message that domestic violence is heinous crime and the glorification of one's violent actions on social media will lead to an immediate response," he said. "As a father of two daughters and brother to seven sisters, I was deeply appalled by this video and urge New Yorkers to remain vigilant in combating domestic violence in all its forms."
