The vast majority of high quality free agent players have already been signed, but a few notable players are still available on the free agent market.

Veteran starting pitcher Tim Lincecum is still a free agent at the moment. Lincecum has played his entire nine year career with the San Francisco Giants, dating back to 2007. Unfortunately, Lincecum has seen a major slide in production over the last four years because of his injuries and loss of command on the fastball.

From 2007-2011 Lincecum posted an ERA of 2.98 and a win-loss record of 69-41. Lincecum played a huge role in two of the Giants World Series titles in 2010 and 2012. However, general managers are very cautious because Lincecum has posted a 39-42 record with a 4.68 ERA over the last four seasons. Lincecum did have a winning record (7-4) last year, but he pitched a career low 76.1 innings for the season. Lincecum has won two National League CY Young awards in his career.

It may be time for Lincecum to consider time as a relief pitcher. Lincecum's last contact was a two year, $35 million deal with the Giants. It's extremely unlikely he will see anywhere near that amount, but if he impresses a few managers this offseason, he may earn a roster spot.

Dexter Fowler and Ian Desmond are both free agents as well.

It doesn't look like the Chicago Cubs are going to re-sign Fowler considering the amount they have already spent this offseason. Fowler isn't the greatest on base hitter, but he did have a career high 17 home runs last season, and he is just 29 years old. The Tampa Bay Rays could be a good fit for Fowler. As for Desmond, the St. Louis Cardinals have shown some interest in the 30-year-old shortstop. Desmond posted a career low .233 batting average this year, but he is a solid defender, and he won't come at a high price.
