Top-seeded players Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams will look to book a spot in the finals of the 2016 Australian Open in Day 11 of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Djokovic, who is looking to win his second consecutive and sixth overall Australian Open title, will face third seed Roger Federer of Switzerland in the semifinals on Thursday at Rod Laver Arena.

The top-seeded Serb, who is also aiming for his 11th Grand Slam title, moved a step closer to reaching his goal on Tuesday with an impressive 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory against Kei Nishikori of Japan. On the other hand, Federer also needed just three sets to dispatch sixth seed Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic.

Djokovic and Federer are familiar with each other, as they have met 44 times before their semis match on Tuesday. According to ESPN, both have 22 wins against each other, but Djokovic has dominated the rivalry since 2011. While he is favored to win again on Thursday, Djokovic knows that he has no room for complacency.

"Roger is playing really terrific tennis in last two years. We played two Grand Slam finals last year. I know very well how good he plays, especially in the later stages of a major event," Djokovic said. "He always makes you play your best. My best is what is going to be necessary to win against him. Hopefully I'll be able to deliver."

Meanwhile, Williams will also try to extend her dominance in women's tennis. The 21-time Grand Slam champion will go up against fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland in the semifinals.

Williams, who has won six Australian Open titles, has not dropped a set in the tournament. The 34-year-old defeated fourth seed Maria Sharapova of Russia in the quarterfinals and is expected to win again against Radwanska on Sunday. But the top seed will not take any chances, knowing that Radwanska beat her at Hopman Cup last year.

"It will be a good match," Williams said. "She's been playing really well towards the end of the year, and already this year she's been very consistent. She presents a completely different game, an extremely exciting game. So I think it will be a long match."

The winner of the Williams-Radwanska match will arrange a title showdown against either Angelique Kerber of Germany or Johanna Konta of Great Britain, who will also collide in the semifinals on Thursday.
