Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. revealed that he is already training for next fight, which will likely be against World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Badou Jack in April.

Chavez, who owns a 49-2-1 record with 32 victories by knockout, told ESPN Deportes that his next fight will likely be scheduled on April 16. The Mexican boxing superstar also confirmed that Jack is on top of their list but is unsure if there is already a deal in place for the world title fight.

"The only thing I have so far is that the fight could take place on April 16," Chavez said, via BoxingScene. "I already started training for Badou Jack, but I do not know if they already have an agreement with him. I know that would be that date and that Jack would be the opponent."

Jack, who has 20 wins against just one draw and one loss in his career, is coming off a split decision win against George Groves in September. According to the BoxingScene report, the 32-year-old champion is open to defending his title against Chavez.

Chavez, the former WBC middleweight champion, has not fought since scoring a unanimous decision win against Marcos Reyes in July last year. The win came just three months after absorbing a technical knockout loss to Andrzej Fonfara, who forced Chavez to retire after the ninth round.

Robert Garcia, Chavez's trainer, also confirmed to BoxingScene that they are already preparing for the possible title fight against Jack. The veteran trainer admitted that he is not too familiar with Jack but has been watching videos of the WBC champion's recent fights.

Based on what he saw from Jack's recent fights, Garcia is convinced that Chavez has a good chance of becoming a world champion again, saying that the 29-year-old Mexican has the tools to defeat Jack as long as he will prepare properly for the bout.

"I didn't pay too much attention to Badou Jack's fights but since they told me that I've been watching his fights and if Chavez prepares himself and if he does training camp the way he should be doing it, I think he has a good chance at being a world champion at super middleweight," Garcia said. "But he has to do things right."

Garcia trained Chavez for his bout against Reyes last year. Previous reports indicated that Chavez and his camp were interested in hiring Freddie Roach again but eventually decided to extend partnership with Garcia.
