Many media outlets proclaimed that the Bush family dynasty was over when Jeb Bush suspended his presidential campaign. The 63-year-old Bush announced he was dropping out last Feb. 20 after getting disappointing results in South Carolina.

"The people of Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken and I really respect their decision, so tonight I am suspending my campaign," Bush said in front of his stunned supporters.

He was the front-runner when the campaign started last June, but Donald Trump and other GOP candidates were too much.

So is the Bush family dynasty really over? Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel has a very interesting take, saying that a Bush family member will probably become president in 2024.

Who is George P. Bush?

George Prescott Bush is the son of Jeb Bush and is named after his grandfather George H.W. Bush and great-grandfather Prescott Bush. He is currently serving as the Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office after winning last November 2014.

George P. is a graduate of Rice University but did not follow his father's path to politics right away. He worked as a public high school teacher in Florida before attending law school in the early 2000s. The 39-year-old also worked as a judicial clerk and business manager before serving in the military as a navy reserve in 2007.

The fourth-generation Bush quietly built up his managerial and military credentials before entering politics in 2009. He became the national director of Maverick PAC and co-founded his own PAC prior to becoming Texas Land Commissioner.

Can He Succeed?

Despite his current position sounding all about agriculture, it is a very important post in Texas. The land commissioner is responsible for managing mineral reserves like oil and gas royalties that are vital in the economy of the Lone Star state. The position is viewed as a stepping stone for young politicians trying to make it big in Texas

Another factor that may prove very important for his future success in politics is his Hispanic background as her mother, Columba, is from Mexico. As mentioned earlier, he also co-founded his own PAC called Republican Hispanics of Texas.

"I'm not running for office to be somebody but really just to do something. This isn't about making a statement. It's about making a difference," George P. said during his campaign.

However, he does not want his success to be based on his last name or being part Latino. Bush said, "It's a legacy that I embrace and that I'm not going to run away from."
