Univision just launched its latest soap opera, titled "Sueño de Amor," starring Betty Monroe, Cristian de la Fuente, Renata Notni and Santiago Ramundo. The show is sure to win over a major following.

Here are a few reasons why "Sueño de Amor" is worth a look.

The Cast

If there is one thing that Televisa always gets right, it is casting. Televisa has some of the most talented actors in the world, and many of them dedicate their lives to working in the medium.

For this soap opera, Chilean de la Fuente headlines his first soap opera since 2012. He is joined by Julian Gil, who is sure to make a great villain. In the female lead, newcomer Monroe will have her chance to shine, and she will be joined by the incomparable Sabine Moussier, who has become one of the greats of Mexican TV.

Juan Osorio Produces

In film, the director is the one who generally signals quality and the one who leads a production. However, in TV, this role falls to the producer, who acts as the leader and the one who audiences can take as a sign of quality.

Audiences can expect a great soap opera in "Sueño de Amor," as it has Juan Osorio producing. Osorio is one of the most acclaimed TV producers in Mexico, and he has produced such classics as “Mi Pecado,” “Duelo de Pasiones,” “Una Familia Con Suerte” and “Velo de Novia.” Expect another classic if Osorio is still in top form.

Upending Stereotypes

Soap operas generally play with social classes. Often the rich guy falls for the poor girl. However, in this soap opera it seems like the two main characters do not necessarily follow these stereotypes. Instead, the male lead, Rodrigo, is a police detective who goes undercover as a school instructor. This is how he meets the female lead, Esperanza, and they fall in love. Similarly, according to Gil, the actor's latest role will show a different take on the villain.

Great Reactions

The series just premiered, and Twitter is already providing great reactions, especially for the kids in the soap opera. Some users praised the kids’ trickery, while others simply complemented the series in general. The cast also retweeted numerous messages from fans who had very good things to say about the work.

Generally, soap operas rely on the audience for support. If these early reactions are any sign, “Sueño de Amor” should expect a very fruitful run and potentially several TVynovela awards next year.

Opening Theme

While the series has a strong cast and producer, one of the things that makes a soap opera memorable is the theme song. Artists like Christina Aguilera, Pedro Fernandez and even Thalia have contributed to soap operas in the past.

This time Mana and Shakira have joined forces for the theme song “Mi Verdad.” It’s a catchy tune and one that fans will be excited to hear over and over again.
