Colombia will look to continue its ascent in Group A of the Copa America Centenario when it takes on Paraguay on Tuesday.

Colombia kicks off in style

Colombia started the tournament with a solid 2-0 win over the United States in the opener of the entire tournament. Los Cafeteros entered the tournament as a favorite to win the group and the team has yet to disappoint thus far.

That game started off in cagey manner with Colombia testing out the Americans and then striking gold on a corner kick in the eighth minute. From there the US got control of the ball but barely managed a whiff at goal.

The Colombians then managed a goal off a penalty and then essentially took the air out of the U.S. hopes.

No James, Big Problem?

Colombia's hopes hang on the health of James Rodriguez. The Colombian superstar was injured after he danced around four American defenders. He left the game early with an injury to the shoulder and his status remains unknown.

"I want to be optimistic," Colombian coach Jose Pekerman said. "James is very important for Colombia. We also know he has a lot of desire to play. But I think the medical professionals know to what extent he'll be running a risk. We cannot take a fast decision. I don't want to think of the negative. We will see, we will be optimistic, and we hope that James will recover well and we will have him on the field."

In Rodriguez's absence, Edwin Cardona took over the game creating opportunities for Colombia. Juan Cuadrado terrorized American defenses and will be the key if Colombia is to make a deep run without Rodriguez.

Paraguay's missed opportunity

Paraguay needs a win badly on Tuesday as a loss or draw would essentially drop it out of the competition.

The team lost a huge opportunity to earn three points in its 0-0 draw with Costa Rica on the weekend. It was a cagey affair that ended with a red card, but neither team did much to establish their presence in the group.

Player to Watch

If he plays, then it is Rodriguez without a doubt. He was growing into the game against the U.S. before injuring himself and looked confident after scoring the goal. If he is out, then Cardona will be the main man as he was on Friday, orchestrating Colombia's attack. This might be his moment.

Prediction

Colombia continues its romp through the group winning 1-0 in what should be a rough and tumble affair.
