Carmelo Anthony can't wait to resume the grind of another NBA season. For the first time since he joined the New York Knicks six seasons ago, the All-Star forward finally sees a method to all the madness that always seems to engulf his team.

"We love them," he recently shared of all the moves the Knicks and Phil Jackson have made this off-season, especially the ones that netted them former All-Stars Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

"We love those additions," Anthony added. "And we're looking forward to getting the season going. I think everybody is excited, the excitement is back. Right now there's an adjustment on paper, but of course we have some work to do putting it all together, making it work. But we're going to ride the wave of this excitement right now."

Rose Excited

Anthony is joined in his enthusiasm for a fresh start and a new opportunity by the hard luck Rose, who for the first time in three seasons was able to take the court in more than three-fourths of his team's games last season.

"I'm going into a great market," said Rose, who averaged 16 points, five assists and three rebounds in 66 games for the Bulls last season. "I'm going into a city where they love basketball -- basketball is a culture there, and they love players that play hard. And I think I fit that. I think this is a huge opportunity for me."

As for the Knicks as a whole, Rose recently dared to compare them to the almost back-to-back champion Golden State Warriors, who have since added Kevin Durant.

The Knicks starting five this season figures to feature Anthony, Rose, Noah, Kristaps Porzingis and fellow recent acquisition Courtney Lee. The team also signed veteran guard Brandon Jennings in free agency and resigned emerging swing-man Lance Thomas.

"They're saying us and Golden State are the super teams, and they're trying not to build that many super teams," Rose added.

Knicks' Among League's Best?

To a man, Anthony and Rose both agree it's a chance for the Knicks to finally show they again belong in any conversation about the league's best teams. And in the midst of that, Anthony sees an intense rivalry reforming with Rose and Noah's old Chicago team.

"I know you guys want that," he said. "I know you're living for that. But we embrace that. I think as players, as competitors, we embrace all of those challenges and rivalries, that's what makes the sport great again, so we embrace that."

Former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, now in Minnesota, recently predicted big years for both his former stars in their new Broadway home.

To be sure, no one seems to want it more than Rose, a free-agent after this season and looking for at least one more big score in terms of netting another max level contract.

"I've got to show why I'm there," he said. "Joakim has to show why he's there. Everybody's trying to prove themselves."
