“The Vampire Diaries” is coming back to The CW for one last season.

Fan favorite Sarah Salvatore (Tristin Mays) is returning to Mystic Falls for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8.

Sarah Salvatore Returns to Mystic Falls

Sarah Salvatore was last seen in “Vampire Diaries” Season 6. Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) had told her to leave Mystic Falls at the time, despite all that she had learned about vampires.

Before her departure she formed an everlasting bond with Enzo (Michael Malarkey).

Now, what is Sarah doing back in Mystic Falls? Does she have some unfinished business?

It is not clear what Sarah is up to but she is the only living relative that Damon has left. Did she come back to try to pull him from the Darkness?

Matt Donovan in The Vampire Diaries Season 8

Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) will be “exploring his humanity,” in the final season of “TVD,” the actor tells fans at last month’s Comic-Con.

Will Sarah play a role in Matt’s new exploration in himself? It could be possible that she went back to Mystic Falls to spend time with him.

Damon and Enzo

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 left off with Damon and Enzo still on their killing spree. Will the villains finally be stopped in the series finale?

Somerhalder reveals that fans will see “Damon and Enzo doing some gnarly s–t.”

He added that they will have to deal with their constant mind control.

“In their minds, they’re still them,” he said. “That conflict and that struggle is what we always look for.”

Bonnie and Enzo

Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) is at rock bottom at the beginning of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8.

“A lot of last season was about the development of the relationship Bonnie had with Enzo, and obviously Bonnie and Damon,” Graham said. “You saw the crumbling of her in the finale. She also doesn’t have her magic. The thing that made her feel like herself, and also her best friends, are not there.”

How will Bonnie cope with not having her magic? Will her relationship with Enzo pick up right where it left off?

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 New Cast

Meanwhile, “Drake and Josh” actress Allison Scagliotti will join the Mystic Falls crew.

Scagliotti will play a research intern named Georgia. She will appear right at the start of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8.

Will she team up with Sarah to save Damon and Enzo?

“The Vampire Diaries” returns to The CW on Friday Oct. 21. Stay tuned for the show’s last season.
