It's no secret that "Orange Is the New Black" cast members love what they do and love one another. Judging by the flood of happy cast photos on Instagram, it's safe to say that they probably all get along (at least that's what we hope.)

Although everyone appears to be friendly on the show, cast member Lea DeLaria (who plays Carrie "Big Boo" Black on "OITNB") displayed the ultimate act of friendship and respect in her refusal to perform at this year's Michigan Festival.

So how exactly was her refusal a sign of great camaraderie?

Well, the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival is known to have a trans exclusionary policy that would prohibit transgender stars such as "OITNB's" Laverne Cox from attending.

The Washington Post reports that DeLaria was all set to perform in the festival until a Twitter user posted a comment that read, " @realleadelaria How could you sign-up to play MichFest, an event that would not accept your costar @Lavernecox as a woman?"

Perhaps the comment struck a chord with DeLaria because, soon after, she withdrew from the show.

DeLaria later posted a message on her Instagram account regarding her decision.

The message was captioned, "Regarding the Michigan Women's Music Festival."

She wrote, "We queers need to find a way to stop this fighting and work together towards our common goal. Both sides of the Michigan Women's Music Festival dispute refuse to listen to each other. Due to their unyielding stance, I am withdrawing from the festival. I truly look forward to the time when all LGBTQ stand as one."

Well said, Lea!

DeLaria isn't the only artist that has dropped out of MichFest for the same reason. Last year, The Indigo Girls opted out too.

The Indigo girls said in an official statement, "We feel that if someone identifies as a womyn, they are a womyn and should be welcomed into our community with open arms. We will only be stronger for it."
