"NCIS" creators are wasting little time getting Wilmer Valderrama's new Special Agent Nicholas "Nick" Torres' character heavily involved in the new season's storyline.

In the Sept. 20, Season 14 premiere, airing on CBS at 8:00 p.m. EST, agents investigate a deadly D.C. car explosion that leads directly back to Torres, just back on the scene after disappearing for six months while deep undercover in Argentina.

It's unclear if Torres will actually be viewed as a suspect in all the mayhem.

Valderrama's Quick Adjustment

Valderrama recently hinted he feels right at home in joining the "NCIS" cast.

"It's not really scary," he said. "I feel like it's refreshing to be in a show that consistently knows what the audience wants and consistently finds a room in people's homes."

The first episode in the new season of TV's most watched drama series also finds Gibbs (Mark Harmon) requesting that fellow series newcomer Jennifer Esposito (Special Agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn) shadow his team after he rejected eight agents she instructed and referred for the open agent position left by DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) departure.

Weatherly's Exit

After 13 seasons, Weatherly departed the show at the end of last season to pursue other interests. It still remains unclear if his DiNozzo character will ever return to the cast.

Aside from Valderrama and Esposito, British actor Duane Henry who joined the cast as MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves at the end of last season will also have an amped presence this time around as a series regular.

Henry made his Season 13 debut by aiding in the death investigation of former onetime agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).

"NCIS" airs on CBS at 8 p.m. ET every Tuesday with the new season kicking off on Sept. The series also stars Pauley Perrette as Abby Scuito, Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance and David McCallum as Donald Mallard.
