Eminem's camp has been notably silent lately, apparently refusing to respond to swirling rumors about his newest album release. The Detroit rapper has been a constant presence in the news over the past several weeks, making all types of different headlines but what fans really want to know is when the new album will drop!

According to certain reports, including one from Christian Today, Mr. Mathers has likely been paying homage to his label by spending time in the studio as evidenced by a new(ish) track "Phenomenal" that he released for the soundtrack to the recent hit boxing flick "Southpaw," starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and Forest Whitaker.

Em was also a featured artist on the soundtrack to the recently released film "Suicide Squad," though his track "Without Me" on that massively popular record was, sadly, nothing that Slim's eager fans haven't already heard.

Regardless, it has definitely shone the spotlight in his direction as a collaborator, with the soundtrack currently sitting toward the apex of Billboard's Top 200 albums chart. The compilation was also streamed more than 30 million times within the first week of it being released and had sold upwards of 200,000 copes in the same time frame, MNR Daily reports.

So why are we still sitting around, about to go berserk in anticipation of the newest release from arguably one of the illest lyricists alive? Well, aside from focusing on silver screen compilation contributions, Mathers reportedly has other things on his plate too.

Chatt Sports Net reports that Eminem recently took on a business venture with StockX, "the world's first online consumer 'stock market of things' for high-demand, limited edition products." The collaboration was hailed by StockX as a "strategic partnership" with the hip hop icon, who himself says he's in it for the shoes.

"Sneakers have always been a huge interest of mine, for at least as long as I've been rapping, and I'm proud of the fact that I've had so many collaborations with Nike and Jordan Brand," Eminem told CBS News Detroit, "I really like the fact that sneakers are a big part of what StockX is doing. When I found out that they happen to be doing it from downtown Detroit, it made even more sense to get involved."

While this project is certainly an exciting one, especially for Em's fellow sneakerheads, will that collaboration push the anticipated August/September 2016 release date for the new Slim Shady album even further, denying fans until 2017, or, heaven help us, beyond that?

At this point we haven't been given any official clarity in terms of a hard date, but there are some stories circling about other artists who may feature on the album, which is at least a little something to go on.

Word is that some of the artists said to be coordinating cameos on Em's upcoming musical montage include Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and longtime partner in crime - the notorious D.R.E.
