Ryhan Lochte Join “DWTS” After #LochteGate Scandal

Olympian Lochte joined the show to get past the #LochteGate scandal where people threw shade at him for fabricating a story about being robbed at gunpoint during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

“It’s been—the past two weeks have been the lowest point in my life…Fans, my family, my friends have all been really positive, keeping me going…I want to put that behind me,” Lochte said on Good Morning America. “I just want to move forward…Everyone’s got to be sick and tired of hearing about this, I know I am. I just want to move forward and…put on my dancing shoes. At least try to.”

Other Olympian stars rumored to be joining “DWTS” Season 23 were gold medalist Michael Phelps and final five Olympian McKayla Maroney. While Phelps said he would rather be remembered as a swimmer and not a dancer, the rumors about Maroney ever being asked to join the show were never confirmed.

Tune into ABC on Monday Sept. 12 for an all new season of “Dancing With the Stars” at 8 p.m. ET.
