“Dancing With the Stars” is back on ABC in less than a month! Fans have been waiting for the show to come back on Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. EST, where stars and season regulars will grace the stage with the hippest ballroom dance moves.

McKayla Maroney to Join Dancing With the Stars

Rumors have been circulating that 20-year-old Rio 2016 Final Five Olympian McKayla Maroney is joining “Dancing With the Stars” Season 23. Speculation says she will join the show because the Fierce Five member is now following season favorite Mark Ballas on Twitter.

Maroney followed Ballas just a month before the show airs, which could be a hint of potential partnership for this season’s “DWTS.” Last season, Sharna Burgess and Pittsburg Steelers’ Antonio Brown followed each other on social media ahead of their partnered dance routines on the ballroom stage.

Mark Ballas Gives Aly Raisman a Shout out

Fans could think that Maroney is joining “Dancing With the Stars” Season 23 because Ballas partnered up with another Fierce Five member in the past; Aly Raisman. Ballas expressed how proud he is of his former dancing partner, after her performance in the Rio 2016 Olympics.

“Yes, Aly competed in [DWTS] Season 16, but it wasn’t her first DWTS appearance,” Facebook User Reese Borges said. “During the all-star finale, Aly and the rest of the ‘Fierce Five’ (the 2012 women’s gymnastics team) were backup dancers in Shawn Johnson and Derek’s freestyle.”

Another Facebook User pointed out that Raisman was a spectacular dancer in “DWTS” Season 16. Fans might want to see another gymnast on the ballroom stage because of it.

“Aly got [fourth] place. It was unfair,” Emma Pinkhusovich said. “She should have gotten the second or third places…Of course, she could get a first place.”

It could be possible that Maroney just followed Ballas on Twitter because she saw the recent support he gave her friend Raisman. Show runners have not confirmed the news as of yet.

If she does join the show, she won’t be the only Olympian asked this season. Rumors say Michael Phelps was asked to join “DWTS” Season 23, but he declined the offer because he wants to be remembered as a swimmer and not a dancer.

Dancing With the Stars Season 23 Rumored Judges

Rumors have it that Latino pop stars Pitbull and Shakira are joining “DWTS” Season 23. Season favorite Julianne Hough is also joining the show as a judge.

“Dancing With the Stars” Season 23 returns to ABC Monday Sept. 12 at 8 p.m.
