While the HTC One (M8) is barely two months old, rumors started flying around last month about a mini version and now this month reports are coming out that the Taiwan based smartphone manufacturer is planning on releasing its very own tablet to rival Samsung's Note series.

International Business Times reported that HTC is developing a phablet currently titled M8 Prime and is expected to drop in stores in September. During the same month Samsung is reportedly expected to release the Galaxy Note 4.

Technology blog HTCsoku and social network site Weibo leaked the information and specifications to the web but those are expected to change as the phablet is still in the testing phase.

The HTC M8 Prime is rumored to boast a WQHD screen, otherwise known as 2K, with 2560x1440p resolution. The phablet should also include the new Qualcomm 805 series chipset along with the fourth generation Category 6 LTE modem that can increase the data-transfer speed up to 300 mbps.

According to the Business Times, the phablet will include a 3GB Ram, 16GB inbuilt storage, a USB v3.0 port as well as an 18.0-megapixel and 5.0-UltraPixel dual-camera combo equipped with depth perception sensors.

HTC's newest addition to its line of devices will be competing with the likes of Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6, which are due out in September, as well as South Korean technology giant LG as it is expected to release G3, a 2K display smartphone, later this month.

Additionally, last year HTC released various color options for the (M7), and this year the company is rumored to do the same with its (M8) device.

According to Android and Me, technology tipster @evleaks leaked photos of the (M8) sporting a light metallic blue finish. The company is expected to release the phone in red and pink as well sometime later this year.
